What to Do When the Oceans Rise

时间:2012-11-01 20:50:42  来源:  作者:

This week PLOS Biology published a review, written by UNC marine ecologist John Bruno and business economics undergrad Lauren-Kristine Pryzant, of the book Adapting to a Changing Environment (Oxford University Press/2011), noting that authors Tim McClanahan and Joshua Cinner “merge marine and climate change ecology with modern social science to figure out what aspects of coastal communities facilitate social adaptation and how these traits can be promoted”

The reviewers emphasize the current relevance of the book, noting that “The African nations where McClanahan and Cinner work emit relatively little carbon dioxide per capita; therefore, mitigation at a global scale is largely beyond reach. For these nations, adaption is the only means to cope with a changing climate.”
